The first email I ever received from Felicia, I knew we would click. I felt a connection with her immediately with what it's like to plan a wedding after losing a parent.
"For the longest time I thought I would elope so deciding to have a wedding is a complete 180 for me. My fiance and I have gone through a lot of hard times, so we decided that doing something for us and having a wedding to celebrate good times ahead was really important. Inspiration for my wedding is cool rustic meets industrial meets romance type feel, I love a little old mixed with new. My mother passed away 3 years ago and I realized how precious photographs are, those I have of her are something I truly treasure. Because of this having wedding photos on our special day are so important to us so that we can look back and remember this big milestone and celebration in our lives."
For our engagement session, we met first over a drink and then headed to Minnekhada Park for our session. I let Ryan pick the music, which ended up being a huge mistake on my part, since he's a crazy Billy Idol fan! I deviated from my usual hip hop jams, and had to come to terms with the fact that I knew way more songs than I'd like to admit.
On the day of their wedding, it was amazing to watch Felicia's vision unfold with the help of Brynn from DreamGroup Productions. The florals from Celsia Floral were a perfect compliment to their fall wedding.
At the end of Ryan's speech, he said, "We lost Felicia's mother, Diana, 4 1/2 years ago. I know she's looking down on us today. She did an incredible job raising her daughter, but I just want her to know, I've got it from here."
